Fabio Capello is once again in charge as the team race into an early lead in the table but then lose Marco Van Basten to an ankle injury after just 13 games. Inter make a mid-season charge but Milan finish the season as champions for the 13th time. Van Basten returns towards the latter stages of the campaign to score his final goal for the club but the side lose their 58-game unbeaten run when they go down 1-0 at home to Parma on week 24.
